Family Weekends & Vacations

Many families vacation in our area, whether their focus is backpacking in the Trinity Alps Wilderness, fishing, rafting, or just hanging out here and enjoying the beauty of the area.  Indian Creek Lodge is a great base camp for all types of family vacations and getaways.

Here are comments from a few of our vacationing guests:

Wonderful place. Located right near the Trinity River with clean, nice rooms, outdoor BBQs and some nice outdoor lounge areas. The onsite restaurant has surprisingly good food and a proper chef but they're only open for dinner. Not much else nearby for food unfortunately. Staff is wonderful as well. I would stay here just for a weekend even without the fishing!

The room is clean and comfortable, with several nice touches. They put a 4 port USB charger on the nightstand and there is a ceiling fan in the room.
The restaurant is worth a visit of its own, our server was Kayla and I cannot rave enough about her. The food was superb. I had a Rib Eye that was cut with a fork. My better half had the chicken and was closing her eyes to better savor the flavors. I recommend that you eat here and definitely need to ask for Kayla to be your server.

This was the best of the hotels we stayed in on a 5 day trip to Ashland, down the CA coast and across the mountains. The hotel is nestled between two large hills with a river running through the property. An idyllic spot except for the highway close by. The restaurant in and of itself is worth the trip. Had an excellent elk osso bucco.

Location: Near the town of Weaverville, which has a nice quaint old town with a lot of shops and restaurants.

We stopped to stay at Indian Creek Lodge on the way home from a road trip, and we are so glad we did! It was so nice to come into a warm lobby with friendly staff and hot apple cider (with a kick) after a long drive. The rooms were very clean and so charming. It didn't feel like a stock hotel room at all. The hotel grounds are well taken care of and beautiful, right on the river. The restaurant menu looked delicious, even though we didn't eat there. If we ever come back through this area we will definitely stay here again!

We planned an overnight to celebrate my birthday, but just couldn't tear ourselves away from this enchanting spot. The hosts and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming.
The accommodations were spotless and comfortable. We enjoyed dinner at the Cafe the 1st night. Our second evening we sat by the river and walked back to the lodge to find the barbecue lit and ready for our steak. A perfect getaway. Can't wait to return.

Lovely quiet clean lodge right on the beautiful Trinity River. I had driven by this Lodge for many years on our way up to a Children's camp near Hayfork. We were greeted by warm welcoming staff who helped make our one day stay relaxing and enjoyable.

We had our Family Reunion at Indian Creek Lodge from July 21 till July 24, 2016. There were 18 or so of us staying at the Lodge and another 25 family members who live in Weaverville came to visit us at the Lodge. Our rooms were exquisite, clean, comfortable and the decorations lovely. The grounds were maintained to perfection. The river was crisp and lovely and the pool cool and refreshing. We could not have asked for a more gorgeous setting to have our Reunion.

Mary and Joel and the staff catered to our every need and request. They could not have been more accommodating. We highly recommend this Lodge/Resort for your next stay or event, we will be making our future plans to stay there again very soon. Oh and there is great fishing and river activities on the premises as well.

We really enjoyed a long July 4th weekend by the river with some friends. The location is very picturesque by the river with a long lawn, and a great pool from which to escape the sun. We were close to Weaverville to shop and enjoy the parade, and had a great day out to Lewiston Lake. Wine and cheese stop at the Winery highly recommended also. Our room was perfect, the shared spaces upstairs and on the lawn all make for a stress-free stay, capped off by the on-site restaurant for dinner, and then the friendly staff. Already made reservations for next year!
Oh, must mention the Osprey chasing the Eagle over the river. Amazing!

The lodge was very clean, the front desk people were beyond helpful and nice. We stayed in a two bedroom facing the river and it was so beautiful. The kitchenette was fully stocked and Immaculate. When we checked in it was suggested we eat dinner at the Cafe on the property. I have no idea why they call this a Cafe because it was a beautiful gourmet dinner and very unexpected in this small town . Do yourself a favor and stop here, eat dinner at the Cafe, meet the very helpful people who run the lodge and you will not be sorry.

We stayed in room #15 for 3 nights with 3 adults and 2 kids - this room was spacious and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean the room was as well as how beautiful this lodge is. Our room consisted of one queen bed in the main room, the second room had a queen bed + a twin, a bathroom w/ a shower only (no bath), A/C, a small kitchen with four electric burners, a mini fridge, a back patio with a picnic table, and bbq (bring your own briquettes). The kitchen was pretty stocked (would have liked a plastic bowl for a family style salad but we used a large cooking pan instead), coffee maker with coffee included! There is a beautiful path out back that you can walk to the river which was so great for the kids. Go out there early in the morning and I promise you will see so much wildlife (we're city people so this kind of stuff amazes us). I saw a deer, otters, jumping fish, and AN EAGLE!!! I still can't believe my dad and I saw an eagle! The pool was very nice for the kids - the water was cold for me but it was 100+ degrees and the young ones loved it, and I loved the lounge chairs around the pool! All of the staff we encountered were all very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this lodge when staying in the Weaverville area. You won't be disappointed - it's the nicest you will get in the area. The Indian Creek Lodge is truly an amazing place that I will never forget and that I hope to visit again one day.

Our stay at Indian Creek Lodge was so restful and pleasant. Our room had a kitchenette which made it so nice to have our meals right there after a long day of site seeing. We had all of the amenities of home without a detail being unnoticed. John and Elena were wonderful hosts and made us feel so comfortable. It was nice to be able to see the owners present and to take such an interest in the guests staying at the lodge. The river runs right through the property and it was so beautiful to be able to look out of our kitchen window at the wooded backdrop of the forest. Fishing was just steps away! We would love to come back and float the river. The property is perfect for a family vacation or reunion or just a short restful couples getaway from the city as we did. I guarantee you will leave a feeling refreshed!

We're hooked! Perfect spot for our family of 4 to launch our first of hopefully many rafting/fishing trips. Everything was clean, managers friendly and accommodating, able to cook dinners in the lovely kitchen and grill outdoors. Huge grassy area for our young boys to play on along with gorgeous views and nighttime fishing right out our back door. We will definitely be back...in fact boys trip already booked for November!

We immensely enjoyed our stay at Indian Creek Lodge and we would come back and do it again the next time we are in the area. I will long remember the fish breaching and splashing back into the river, sometimes in pairs, at dawn just before daybreak. We had a splendid time.

We really enjoyed our stay at Indian Creek Lodge. It was simple and clean–nicely renovated. The bed was comfortable and clean. Played golf all day (Golf Package) and came back to the Lodge to relax and enjoy the river. The satellite TV was acting funny and the manager, Kurt, helped us resolve the problem. He went abouve and beyond to make sure we were content. We will definitely be returning and recommending ICL to our friends.

Indian Creek Lodge was a great, actually a fantastic find for us. The rooms were contemporary, pretty, roomy and clean. The grounds were well kept and attractive. With the Lodge right on the river we not only launch our canoe from the Lodge, Kurt ran our shuttle and that evening was watching for our safe return. This will be a yearly vacation stop for us.

Our family (and pets) enjoyed staying at your lodge tremendously. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much for working out the accommodations for us. We had plenty of room and wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy your place more. We look forward to staying there again.

Thank you for the generosity you have shown to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Sacramento and Northeastern California.  We are so grateful for your generous donation of a 2-bedroom kitchenette for 3 nights. Your generosity helps us to keep our costs low, which enables us to grant more wishes.  Our wish child thoroughly enjoyed his one true wish to go salmon fishing in the north state along the Trinity River.   He was thrilled to catch such a large salmon!  They truly had the trip of a lifetime and appreciated the VIP treatment provided every day.  Somewhere in the world – every hour of every day – a child sees his or her fondest dream come true.  Your donation reflects an appreciation for our mission, and we’re grateful for your support.

We had a truly wonderful time at Indian Creek Lodge. Well above our expectations because of the great service and extraordinarily clean and comfortable accommodations. We commented throughout our stay on the quality of everything–the pool was immaculate, the rooms all had very nice detail and the landscaping, etc was superb.

Twenty nine years ago, our family began our love affair with Indian Creek Lodge and the Trinity River.  Our 7 month old son was in a backpack when  we ventured out the back door  of our studio unit to the beautiful Trinity. That 7 month old is now 29 and his sister 24 and almost every President’s weekend since that first adventure has we brought us back to Indian Creek.  We’ve seen the lodge’s ownership change many times in nearly three decades and none compare to the current innkeepers, John and Elena.  Guests are treated as exactly that—they clearly care about guests’ comfort and needs.  Whether you are a fishing enthusiast, outdoor adventurer or history buff, there is much to enjoy while staying at Indian Creek Lodge on the banks of the Trinity River.

What a pleasant stay we had at Indian Creek Lodge.  Owners John & Elena Letton were incredibly friendly and personable.  They made us feel like welcomed friends.  The rooms were immaculately clean and spacious.  Kitchenettes were well supplied.  The two-room suite we stayed in was tastefully decorated and fresh.  Each accommodation on our row had a BBQ and picnic table out in the pack patio with full view of the nearby river running though.  We would highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone.

We really enjoyed our stay over Memorial day weekend. We visit family in the area a couple times a year and we hope to stay at Indian Creek Lodge on all of our future trips. We loved the location and the room. It was so nice. Thank you for the really nice hospitality. We plan to visit the area in October and again during Thanksgiving.

Staying at the Indian Creek Lodge this summer was a great way to spend our family vacation. We have 4 kids and the accommodations were large and comfortable. The kitchen and bbq allowed us to enjoy some of our own meals along with checking out some of the surrounding restaurants and the theater in Weaverville. The kids also loved the pool and game room. The lodge is owned by a family who take excellent care of you and are very helpful. The highlight of our trip was a river rafting trip down the Trinity River which was thrilling enough for my sons and safe enough for my youngest daughter. If you are looking to get away to somewhere different, not crowded, and stunningly beautiful, you will not be disappointed in a visit to Trinity County and the Indian Creek Lodge.

Our family enjoy our brief stay at Indian Creek Lodge very much. It was very peaceful and exactly what we needed.  We spend so much time rushing from place to place and we rarely stay over, unless at our destination. This time we decided to make a stop, and picked a winner!  We went north up hwy 3, saw some wildlife, then up to Medford to meet our newest niece. Of course the trip back was our typical I-5 non stop back to Santa Rosa, but because of our stay at Indian Creek we arrived home feeling rested, refreshed and recharged.  We will recommend this oasis to friends and family.

I have only good things to say about staying with you this weekend.  The apartment was wonderful!  I could easily move in and stay forever.  It was so clean and well equipped – right down to the perfect Margarita glasses!  My grandson and the other kids felt right at home—the weekend was a total success for them too.  And, the help carrying my stuff up the stairs was much appreciated.

“Indian Creek Lodge looks sort of quaint from the outside, but far from that on the inside! We were more than pleasantly surprised when we walked in. It was spacious and immaculately clean. Decorated just so cute!  The river is just a very short walk away. The owners could not have helped us any more. They are just great!!  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will go back. This place is more than great! It is a retreat! BEST KEPT SECRET in the area.”

John and the Gang,

Thank you so much for the great hospitality and friendly service. The staff went out of their way to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. Since our group had never visited the area before, the information you willingly passed on (ie; fishing reports, local attractions, etc.) was added value to our stay. We found the rooms more than adequate for our group with plenty of room, cleanliness, comfortable beds and other amenities.

It was very convenient to be able to use the BBQ and the kitchenette for our meals. Very inviting view of the Trinity River right from our back patio while BBQ’ing. The Indian Creek Lodge was a great “home base” for our fishing trip, and we will definitely return for more visits in the future.

Thanks again for the warm friendly service and we look forward to our next visit.”

“I have been fishing, kayaking, & rafting the Trinity River for 20 years but never stayed at Indian Creek Lodge until last week.  What a nice surprise.  The owners are obviously investing a lot of time and effort—nice to see a well maintained, clean place run by such nice folks.  Everything we need for the fishing trips with the boys and/or with the family.  I plan to rally the troops and bring the ladies and kids before steelhead season winds down.”

“We have stayed at the Indian Creek Lodge for several years and made it our home base for our summer vacation. The Lewiston Area is a solid reminder of where I grew up in Oregon and the Lodge fits right in with those memories. It also is a reminder of the places we have stayed while touring New Zealand. We particularly enjoy the fact that when we stay there, we have our own kitchen and patio, and the fact that our dog can roam and romp around in the pasture between the lodge and the Trinity River just a few hundred feet away. And, the swimming pool is great on those hot summer afternoons. But, perhaps the greatest thing is that we feel at home–like we have staked a claim and the place is ours.”

“Spending a week at the Indian Creek Lodge during summer vacation has been a family tradition for the past 10 years. We enjoy going down to the river exploring, fishing, picking blue berries, drifting down the river in our dingy, reading or just soaking up the beauty. We like taking trips into downtown Weaverville visiting the antique shops, the museum, the old movie house and the used book store and then coming back to the lodge and spending lazy afternoons swimming in the pool, reading, and playing cards or board games while we grill burgers on the bbq. The beauty and serenity offered at the Indian Creek Lodge is unparalleled!”

“Our stay at the lodge was was comfortable and enjoyable. (12/17-22). Catching lots of steelhead was an extra plus. We liked the layout of your place with the easy in and out pulling a trailer and appreciate the parking space for dropping off the boat. Our room (2 beds & kitchenette) was a pleasant surprise in that we expected cramped quarters, instead had plenty of space for our gear and the beds were very comfortable. Next visit we will take advantage of the outdoor grill also. The Indian Creek Lodge is perfect for fishing & hunting, and my family/friends and I will take advantage of it from now on.”

“On a recent trip to Eureka, we spent a night at the Indian Creek Lodge, right on the Trinity River outside of Douglas City. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and spacious, and the room was decorated with nice touches, such as wood paneling and a pretty wooden armoire, housing the modern flat screen TV. A small refrigerator and a microwave were also available. The location right next to the river was lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.”

“We have made Indian Creek Lodge a holiday tradition for the past couple of years. The new owners have done a wonderful job of updating the rooms and making you feel at home. With our two Brittany Spaniels in tow, we all enjoy the spacious river front property and convenient private boat launch where we have access to some of the best fly fishing. We will be back again next year looking for the “New Year” party in downtown Weaverville.”

The Indian Creek Lodge is fabulous: quiet, serene, beautiful, right on the river.  Seeing the fog lift in the early morning was . . . great.  The room was perfect, although I wouldn’t call it a “room”, it’s more a full size two bedroom apartment!  next time I  will bring my buddies from fishing club and we can all stay in the same unit.  My six year old son and I enjoyed walking down to the river and fining a great fishing hole just in “our” backyard.  He was really excited about the salmon jumping right in front of him.  My wife also enjoyed staying with you, she enjoyed the area and she really liked the comfortable and well equipped apartment.  There was great hiking and sightseeing just a few miles away.  We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay! The kids really enjoyed the pool and all the other terrific recreation activities on site. Our unit worked very well for our family, and the little kitchen was surprisingly efficiently designed, very functional for a small space.  We will certainly stay at Indian Creek Lodge when we visit the area again–it’s so beautiful, welcoming and comfortable. We loved the picnic table/grill area out back — lovely views and so relaxing! Hope to be back before too long to see the progress with the paths
and lawns out to the River.

Our massage therapist recommended the Indian Creek Lodge to us. We were attending my brother’s wedding in Weaverville for 3 days.  Much to our delight we were greeted with clean comfy beds, the cutest kitchenand an amazing view of our surroundings. No doubt in our minds we will stay here every time we come up to visit. The highlight of our trip was when John the owner pointed out an American Bald Eagle to us sitting in the treetop…All we could say was WOW!

We had a wonderful time at Indian Creek Lodge. The room was very clean and spacious and a very comfy bed. We always enjoy ourselves at Indian Creek Lodge.  From the great rooms to the game room upstairs (our family really enjoys the ping pong) and who can forget the great fishing right behind the Lodge.  I have caught a few monsters back there over the years.  We are sending a few pictures of fish caught over the Thanksgiving holiday.  See you all next year.
