The Trinity River is known for its world class fishing for steelhead and salmon, and knowledgeable anglers stay at Indian Creek Lodge. Our “backyard” includes a great stretch of the Trinity, and many of the best known holes and drifts are within easy driving distance. Just stop by one time and you will be hooked on the great location, welcoming atmosphere.
Here are some comments
from some of our regular fishing guests:
This is a very lovely place with lots of good things. The room was great, the pool was very nice and the view of the river out back is great. Love the fire and chairs by the river. Great people that treated us great. Stayed in room 8 which is where Bing Crosby stayed when he came up to go fishing.
Awesome fly fishing out back. Quiet BBQ pits. Rooms comfortably quaint.
Great weekend trip.
Excellent room. Had a kitchenette in it. Had everything needed for cooking, even a barbeque with all the utensils for each room. Very clean and nice people at the front desk. Thanks for such a great weekend. Also close to good fishing. Will visit again when it's steelhead season.
This is a beautiful small lodge with a very friendly staff. Clean quiet rooms with WI-FI. They will grind you fresh locally roasted coffee that you can brew right in your room every morning. There is a pool, fire pit and bbq available for use. The river is only a few hundred yards away and is easily accessible. I have stayed here numerous times and would definitely recommend staying here.
Wonderful place. Located right near the Trinity River with clean, nice rooms, outdoor BBQs and some nice outdoor lounge areas. Staff is wonderful as well. I would stay here just for a weekend even without the fishing!
I usually stay in Weaverville when I travel in the area, but decided to stay at the Indian Creek Lodge (8 miles from Weaverville) because it has river access for fly fishing. It is a great place to stay. The rooms are far more fancy than those found in Weaverville, and my room was cheaper. You pick the room you want on the hotel website, and the photos they provide are accurate. The Indian Creek Lodge was a pleasant surprise, and I have recommended it to the members of my San Francisco casting and angling club.
Lovely quiet clean lodge right on the beautiful Trinity River. I had driven by this Lodge for many years on our way up to a Children's camp near Hayfork. We were greeted by warm welcoming staff who helped make our one day stay relaxing and enjoyable.
We really enjoyed a long July 4th weekend by the river with some friends. The location is very picturesque by the river with a long lawn, and a great pool from which to escape the sun. We were close to Weaverville to shop and enjoy the parade, and had a great day out to Lewiston Lake. Wine and cheese stop at the Winery highly recommended also. Our room was perfect, the shared spaces upstairs and on the lawn all make for a stress-free stay, and then the friendly staff. Already made reservations for next year!
Oh, must mention the Osprey chasing the Eagle over the river. Amazing!
I stayed here three times in last two years and enjoyed myself. I was here strictly for fishing. Place was clean and staff were polite and upgraded our room, just because. I've stayed here twice by myself and once with my fiance. I will continue to stay here in the future. Thank you for having a great staff. We enjoyed our stay.
Recently the ownership of Indian Creek Lodge made an amazing transformation of the lodge. I have stayed there over the past ten years, and am blown away by the improvements to the rooms, the professionalism of the staff. There are very few accommodations in and around Weaverville, but this really is the best--even if you're not a fisherman. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone, without reservation.
Stayed at ICL this weekend with my fishing club. People were friendly, rooms were clean, location is perfect. I will stay there again and would recommend to anyone that is on a fishing trip or out in the area.
We're hooked! Perfect spot for our family of 4 to launch our first of hopefully many rafting/fishing trips. Everything was clean, managers friendly and accommodating, able to cook dinners in the lovely kitchen and grill outdoors. Huge grassy area for our young boys to play on along with gorgeous views and nighttime fishing right out our back door. We will definitely be back...in fact boys trip already booked for November!
Just got back from a two-night stay. What a gem of a place. I was in the area for fishing, so location was our main criteria. Couldn't have been more pleased. Owners are very nice people. Staff all seemed happy. The rooms are well maintained and clean. The setting on the Trinity River is a bonus. You can actually fish from their property or just lounge by the river. Lots of amenities: bottled water, WiFi, refrigerator, microwave.
Indian Creek Lodge is my choice for trinity river accommodations. I love waking up on the river. I have found several fishing options within walking distance. I have launched my boat from the lodge's convenient and private boat ramp. The renovated rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. After a long fishing day I love to relax while watching sports center, checking emails and fishing reports on the wifi access. When I go fishing with a group we love to get a room with a kitchenette. If you visit in the summer the pool is an added bonus, it can get hot!
Michael O., Monterey, CA September 2014
I spent a weekend here in late April with some friends. I was at first concerned that the lodge was close to the road. That was not really a problem, even though I could hear some road noise. The walls between rooms were very well insulated and no noise traveled through them. Located on the banks of the Trinity the lodge provides a great base for fishermen or just for relaxing on the river. This was my first fly-fishing experience and I caught 5 trout (catch and release). What fun!
The hosts were gracious and very accommodating and the food was excellent. The rooms are very clean, beds comfortable and charming. I stayed in a double room, not one of the units with stove. I did have a microwave and refrigerator, however. Indian Creek Lodge is very close to Weaverville with its cute shops. But, just sitting by the river and enjoying the tranquility was the greatest attraction.
Tony Spiva and I certainly enjoyed our trip and the accommodations at Indian Creek Lodge. Having my son Phil join us from Sun River Oregon was a real treat – not only for his company – but for his willingness to cook breakfast each morning. Tony would be most proud of your displaying his largest steelhead of the trip -31 inches – and perhaps a good 10 + Lbs. Our guide, Fred Fossett, was one of the best we have ever fished with. This was a “trip of a lifetime
We always enjoy coming to Indian Creek Lodge, and this winter’s steelhead trip produced a rare double hookup! The Lodge is a perfect place for a fisherman to rest his head after a great day on the river. I’ve been staying there for years, and they don’t need to change a thing!
In its riverfront setting so close to charming Weaverville, Indian Creek Lodge is fresh, clean and friendly. You can’t help feel the attention to details. John and Elena were great helps in all respects – finding us a great local guide (Travis Michele), directing us to the best dinner houses and making sure everything in our room was comfortable. We are so happy to have found this gem of a lodge for fishermen and women. We will be back – there are steelhead and sea run browns to catch.
Thank you for your gracious hospitality when the Shasta Mayflies and Golden West Fly Fishers got together at the Lodge. Your personal touch and after dinner “quizzes” made us feel welcomed and part of the family. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and the ability to BBQ and get together in a dining room was great. I also liked the “bunkhouse”, and will be back!
Pat Magnuson, Pleasant Hill CA, November 2011
“John and Elena, thanks again for your hospitality during our last steelhead trip. Our room was clean and spacious and at a good rate. Also noteworthy is that if it snows, you can walk from the Lodge and fish the river. The Lodge is very centrally located so good fishing is always nearby. When all of the above are added to your congeniality it makes for a great stay.”
Bob Marini and Marty Gold, Watsonville, CA, February 2010 and many subsequent stays
“We stayed a couple days in the 2 bedroom suite with kitchenette. Very roomy suite, nice clean kitchenette and bathroom. It was really great to come back from a busy day of fishing and sightseeing to such a comfortable home. The back porch overlooking the Trinity River right at the Indian Creek was so relaxing. In the evening it was a great place to enjoy the sunset and barbeque up some dinner.”
Michael Tobias, Sunnyvale, CA, May 2010 and many subsequent visits
“Thanks again for your hospitality. Once again we had a great stay at Indian Creek Lodge….right in the heart of the best steelhead fishing this side of British Columbia! See you next year.”
Dave Schultz, Newport Beach, CA, February, 2010; February 2011; February 2012
“I really enjoyed my stay—quiet, clean and lots of hot water. The rooms were nicer than I imagined they would be. I will definitely stay at Indian Creek Lodge again, and spend some more time fishing that stretch of great water in the Back Yard.”
Mark Testa, Laguna Beach, CA, February 2010 and subsequent visits
“Thank you so much for making our stay at Indian Creek Lodge a memorable experience. This was my second stay at your lodge in 2010. Your rooms are cozy, very quiet, and quite spacious. The lodge’s location next to the Trinity River makes for a perfect setting for any steelhead fisherman. Notwithstanding the comfort of the bedroom units, your personal attention to your guest’s needs is most noteworthy. It’s great to interact with a friendly innkeeper who is so accommodating and genuinely attuned to guests’ needs. I look forward to recommend your lodge to friends who will visit the Trinity River area.”
Ralph Gaedeke, Sacramento, CA, February 2010
“Ron and I had a great time during our recent stay at Indian Creek Lodge. To be able to easily walk down to the beautiful Trinity to fling a few flies in the evening (just before cocktail hour) was an added bonus of our stay with you. We will definitely return so I can do battle with my second wild steelie, and once again, give Ron another fishing lesson. Thanks again for your super hospitality.”
John Rea, San Jose, CA, February 2010
“We had a wonderful time at Indian Creek Lodge! We used to “camp it” at Steel Bridge but never again! Not when we have Indian Creek Lodge to go to. The improvements you have done is unbelievable. Both of you AND your staff (the girls…lol) made our stay an enjoyable one. It was a full week of comfort and relaxation. Obviously so since we booked next year’s fishing stay with you already, as well as several of our friends.”
Jack and Mary Lou Cady, Santa Rosa, CA, September 2010, September 2011, September 2012
“We had a great time. The professional greetings and attitude displayed made us feel at home and part of the growing family of friends of Indian Creek Lodge. The fishing was great the rooms are outstanding. Well kept and homey. Job well done. We will be back in a month or two for steelhead fishing.”
Ray LaPage, Apple Valley, CA, August 2010
“Just wanted to let you know of your fine establishment and I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay with you. You have an A+ lodge and I look forward to future reservations with you. Your rooms were very clean and provided all amenities for me. I highly recommend your lodge to any other future travelers.”
Terry Imai, October 2010
“I always enjoy coming up to the Trinity (it’s such a lovely place) I enjoyed my stay at your Lodge. My room was comfortable, the bed was very comfortable—more than adequate accommodations for a fisherman on a weekend jaunt for the wily steelhead. I hope to come back in February, probably over one of the President’s Day weekends, so I can stay a day longer thereby bettering the odds of actually catching one of the aforementioned steelhead.”
Jim Colgan, Richmond, CA, November 2010, February 2011
“I have been fishing, kayaking, & rafting the Trinity River for 20 years but never stayed at Indian Creek Lodge until last week. What a nice surprise. The owners are obviously investing a lot of time and effort—nice to see a well maintained, clean place run by such nice folks. Everything we need for the fishing trips with the boys and/or with the family. I plan to rally the troops and bring the ladies and kids before steelhead season winds down.”
Brad Lancaster, Reno, NV, November 2010
“I enjoy staying at the Indian Creek Lodge because of the friendly, helpful people, family atmosphere and the tranquil setting. It’s more like staying with a friend than at a motel.”
Scott Travis, Penryn, CA, December 2009, and many subsequent visits
“Great fishing lodge. Clean rooms, all freshly remodeled. Owner and all of staff certainly went above and beyond the call of duty! They went out of their way to make sure my wife and I were comfortable–it’s hard to find this kind of service anymore. There’s great fishing right in back of lodge. We certainly will be returning soon! Ask John for anything and I’m sure he’ll do his best to accommodate. Great rates too!”
Kevin Coffaro, San Jose, CA, September 2009
“The rooms at Indian Creek lodge are very comfortable, clean and spacious. The kitchen units make it easy to have a nice meal, go to bed, and be ready to fish in the morning. John definitely will go the extra mile for his guests.”
Rick Harris, Redding, CA, November 2009
“I really enjoyed my stay at Indian Creek Lodge. It is clean, very comfortable and relaxing, and priced right. It is very convenient to some of the best steelhead and salmon fishing in the Northwest. I really couldn’t ask for more and I am looking forward to my next trip.”
Lee Moore, Hesperia, CA, October 2009, October 2010
“I fish the Upper Trinity a lot and I’ve been wanting to stay at the Indian Creek Lodge for years, but was always put off by the “quaintness” of the rooms. Now, it has undergone a transformation under its new ownership. The Lodge is right on the river with great views and great fishing, and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The owners are super friendly and helpful. I’ll be back soon.”
Debbie Stewart, Sacramento, CA, November, 2009
“Many thanks to you and the staff for a great stay at Indian Creek Lodge. Clean rooms with great fishing walking distance from the lodge and of course great people who make you feel right at home. I look forward to seeing you folks again very soon. It is never more true when one says it’s the people that bring you back (along with the fishing) and I will definitely be back. Keep up the great work.”
Rich Nominni, Napa, CA, January 2010, and subsequent stays
“I have been coming up to the Indian Creek Lodge for the past 10 years to fly fish for steelhead. 2009 is the first year under the new ownership and management of John and Elena and I must say, what an improvement over past years. The accommodations are functional and a great value and I hope to be coming back for years to come.”
Trevor S. Fagerskog, San Ramon, CA
November 2009 and many subsequent stays
“For the past 10 years, whenever I fish the Trinity, I stay at Indian Creek Lodge. You cannot beat the location. Within the past year, the rooms have been spruced up and it’s never been better managed. It’s my home away from home when I’m on the river.”
Gene W., San Francisco, CA, December 2009
“We really enjoyed our stay at the Indian Creek Lodge . . . John put us onto some beautiful steelhead . . . and guests were landing fish on the river directly behind the resort. The rooms were clean, warm and well maintained and the kitchenette in our room was perfect for preparing dinner and breakfast . . . . The boat ramp behind the resort was great for launching drift boats . . . . However, what will really keep me coming back was John’s hospitality. He went out of his way to extend himself to his guests, even allowing me to use his dryer for my gear after taking an accidental splash into the river. First class hospitality, wonderful riverfront accommodations and great local knowledge, what more can you ask for?”
Andy T., San Francisco, CA, December 2009
“I have stayed at the Indian Creek Lodge on my last two trips to the Trinity River. I had a very favorable experience each time. The location is perfect for fishing the Upper Trinity; the staff is very helpful and friendly and they treat you like family. The rooms have all been refurbished and are very clean/quiet and even have WI-FI in the rooms. The new management team is working hard to give you a great experience, although catching fish is your job.”
Frank Atter, Morgan Hill, CA, December 2009
“John, thank you very much for a wonderful stay at the Indian Creek Lodge! The accommodations were excellent and I would come back in a heartbeat. The large room was perfect for our group and after a full day on the river, it felt like coming back to a home rather than a motel. I look forward to returning again soon.”
Jason Sturgis, Gardnerville, NV, November 2009
“We had a great time staying at your lodge. You went out of your way to make sure we had a great stay and then some. Here is a picture of one of the Steelies I caught in Lewis ton (my brother and his friend didn’t catch one, because they were too busy netting my fish all weekend!) I hope the lodge works out for you, because you guys are doing everything right!”
Jeff Papazian, Fresno, CA, November 2009
“The prime location of Indian Creek Lodge is noteworthy, but the warm welcome my Dad and I received from John and his crew during last Fall’s annual steelhead pilgrimage was exceptional. Nice to enjoy the recent updates to the housekeeping rooms. Please pencil us in for a housekeeping room November 26, 27, and 28 2010.”
Mike Sapunor, Soquel, CA, November 2009, November 2010, November 2011, November 2012
“Indian Creek Lodge is a perfect location for winter steelheading. While I often use the launch for put-in or take-out of my pontoon boat, it’s also a great place to meet your guide. The Indian Creek area of the Trinity often holds nice steelhead and browns. With each visit there seems to be a new surprise upgrade or improvement to the lodge. The hosts are very accommodating and helpful.”
Larry G., Palo Alto, CA, December, 2009, January 2011, and many subsequent visits
“John and Elena, thank you again for a wonderful time and warm hospitality. You truly go above and beyond in service and care, and make my stay feel like I am at a second home. I’ve been staying at Indian Creek for a few years and have enjoyed the transformation that the both of you have brought. You have earned new loyal customers with each friend that I have brought up fishing and I am always looking forward to my next visit with you. ”
L.B. Richards, Campbell, CA, December 2009, and many subsequent visits
“I thoroughly enjoyed our last stay at the Indian Creek Lodge and find it the ideal place on the river to stay for our fishing needs. The staff are more than pleasant and with the river being in the back yard makes it a perfect spot for us.”
Bob Devine, Pacifica, CA, November 2009
“Many years ago I finished up a fishing trip at the mouth of Indian Creek and stayed overnight at Indian Creek Lodge. I fell in love with the Lodge’s history and beautiful setting and I have stayed there ever since. The Lodge feels like a throwback to by-gone days when the innkeeper knew your name and treated you like a friend. I spend time each fall and winter at the Lodge to fish the Trinity River, which has its own special magic. Many times after fishing my friends and I use the outdoor barbeques, and other guest do the same. Usually everyone has a great story to share about their day on the river. I attribute many of my fondest memories on the Trinity to Indian Creek Lodge. I think you will too.”
Chris Putney, San Martin, CA, November 2009
“As a weekend warrior my past fishing trips to the Trinity River have consisted of summer overnights in the dirt and very long day trips in the winter. A few weeks ago I decided to treat myself to a room at the Indian Creek Lodge. My first impression was of an upscale fishing lodge in Montana with its welcoming statue of a steelhead illuminated at 11:30 at night–a nice touch. There are many reasons why this place is great for fishermen, and here’s a short list: 1) It’s affordable compared to motels in the area (these motels are 8 miles away from the Trinity, Indian Creek Lodge is ON the Trinity) 2) John (the owner) loaned me a glass from his house for my evening whiskey 3) There’s a bench in front of every room to take boots and waders off, and hooks to hang them 4) Modern TVs and satellite programming 5) Private parking right in front of the rooms 6) Relaxing accommodations. Indian Creek Lodge has definitely become my home on the Trinity!”
Jon Ng, San Francisco, CA, January 2010
“Great location! Can’t say enough about the convenience of being able to float down to the Lodge one day, then continue the float the next day without having to launch again! The spacious rooms with kitchenettes are another big bonus, perfect for early morning breakfast before hitting the river. Plus Wi-Fi throughout the property–not too many fishing lodges I’ve stayed at have that.”
Axel Schug, Schug Carneros Winery, November 2010, and many subsequent visits
“I had a nice stay at Indian Creek Lodge. Great location, right in the middle of all the action. Good drifts upstream and down, boat launch at the lodge makes it super convenient. Kitchenette comes in really handy for longer stays. We checked current fishing reports on in room internet. You don’t have to leave your best friend at home–they have dog friendly rooms!”
Michael Oliver, Comptche, CA, November 2009
“A group of buddies and I have taken a fall Trinity River fishing vacation for a few years and never stayed at the same place twice. We have always driven right past Indian Creek Lodge due to its former lack of curb appeal and I’m happy to say it looks very welcoming now. We found the Lodge to be exactly what we were seeking: clean, quiet rooms with hot showers and comfortable beds. We’re pretty easy to please when resting our weary bones; however, we found the :Lodge’s location and comfort to be someplace we will definitely return to.
Kevin “Mac” McIlvenna and Friends, Antioch, CA, November 2010, and many subsequent visits
“We have been coming up to the Indian Creek Lodge for the past 10 years to fly fish for the great Trinity Steelhead. We have always enjoyed our stay at the Lodge due to the friendly service, clean rooms and the great accommodations. You can’t beat the location, and you can bet we will always come back. If I’m not at home in the winter months I’m staying at the Lodge to go steelhead fishing.”
Terry Gosser, San Ramon, CA, January 2010, and many subsequent visits
“Just a note to let you know how much we enjoyed your Texas size hospitality. The rooms were comfortable with all the neccessities and the location of your lodge gave us easy access to the river and Weaverville where we found a couple of good restaurants. We will be looking forward to staying with you in the future.”
Jim G., Houston, Texas, February 2011
“The Indian Creek Lodge is a frequent destination once the steelhead arrive and has never been better. John and Elena have done a wonderful job revitalizing the lodge and providing a warm and comfortable place to stay with a great staff. The kitchen units are especially nice. Fantastic location in the heart of it all.”
Jeff Stegall, Belmont, CA, February 2011 and many subsequent visits
I enjoyed my stay at Indian Creek Lodge while fishing the Trinity. The folks were friendly and accomodating and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I definitely plan to stay there again.
David Longanecker, Orinda, CA, March 2011
